What weabout it
Popular for preventing colic and spit-up, this feeding system has everything needed for the first six months at least.

About this Product
  • 5 bottles in two sizes
  • 2 nipple types (For newborns and older babies)
  • Cleaning brushes and travel caps included

Description

The unique venting system on Dr. Brown’s bottles eliminates air bubbles during feeding (which can make newborns bloated and uncomfortable) and maintains nutrients that normally breakdown when exposed to oxygen.

The bottles have the traditional, narrow shape, and getting all the parts clean requires a special brush that’s included in the kit. Travel caps, also in the kit, are lids you screw onto the bottle neck for when you’re on the go. Just pack the nipple and the two-part vent insert for when it’s time to eat.

When newborns first start bottle feeding, doctors recommend using a “slow flow” nipple (also called Level 1), so that the baby doesn’t get too much milk at once. Also if you are switching back and forth from breast to bottle, slow flow nipples can prevent babies from getting too attached to the bottle. Around three months old, your baby will probably be ready to graduate to Level 2. This starter kit includes 5 Level 1 nipples and 2 Level 2 nipples, so you will be all set for six months.

Although Dr. Brown’s bottles are a standout when it comes to battling colic and other tummy woes associated with too much air intake, it’s a process to clean all the parts and if you don’t put everything back together just so, they can leak.

Love these bottles, hate washing all the parts but they are good bottles. I think if I were to do it again I would just get a pack of all big bottles, or maybe just get another pack of big bottles.

The only bottles we use! My son was colicky and anything that decrease the grassiness is totally worth it!

There are so many parts and the vent is a pain to clean, especially on the 8 oz bottles - the vent straw is so long my dishwasher cannot clean it sufficiently. I have to handwash these every night. The vent definitely helps for a baby with reflux problems, however, I would try another vented bottle with fewer parts before getting these.

It does seem to get rid of air to reduce gas, however the nipples are so long and hard that my baby, at times, refused to drink from it. Perhaps there are other nipples to try.

The best bottles for a newborn. Never experienced any gas or fussiness with these bottles.

Easy to hold. Reduces gas and spit up.

Lots of little parts to clean, but it did not give our baby gas. If breastfeeding, I would also order the preemie nipples - they were recommended to us by our lactation consultant and really worked well.
