What weabout it
An elephant leaves the jungle and adopts an elegant city life. Jean De Brunhoff illustrates this in distinctly French style.

Description

This is not only the first Babar story, but the first picture book. Author Jean de Brunhoff, a French painter, wrote and illustrated a story his wife told their two sons, Laurent and Mathieu.

The tale begins in Bambi-esque tragedy, and Babar flees the jungle and ends up in the city. He quickly acclimates by purchasing a derby hat, a green suit and shoes with spats, and is invited to live with an old woman, rent free. His enviable city life is altered when two cousin elephants come to town.
