What weabout it
High-tech, wearable baby monitor lets you track your little one’s heart rate and oxygen levels in real time—and alerts you if there’s a problem.

About this Product
  • Tracks heart rate and oxygen saturation levels
  • Includes three different sized cotton socks to grow with your baby
  • Bluetooth connection from Smart Sock to base with 100 foot range
  • Connects to the Owlet smartphone app to give you real-time data

Owlet’s Smart Sock 2 takes the baby monitor concept up a few notches by tracking your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels while they sleep—and notifying you if something is wrong. The smart sensor—which measures oxygen with clinically proven pulse oximetry—fits in a cotton “sock” that wraps comfortably around your baby’s foot. Each Smart Sock comes with three sock sizes, so it can grow with your baby.

The Smart Sock communicates with a base station via Bluetooth with a 100-foot range. The base station is illuminated in green when all is well, but notifies you with lights and sounds if there’s a problem. You can also connect to the Owlet app to get notifications and stream real-time data on your phone. You can view heart rate and get notifications if BPM is higher or lower than specified zones, or see oxygen saturation levels and be notified if they drop below a preset threshold.

Drawbacks of this system: the app connection is Wifi dependent, and the sock needs to be plugged in to charge when your baby’s not sleeping. It takes about three hours to fully change, and the charge lasts for about 18 hours. Some parents will love this little machine for the peace of mind it provides, and it can be super helpful if your baby has a medical condition.

Do be aware that, though it can alert you to potential problems, it has not been tested to prevent SIDS.

For a complete baby monitoring system—vitals, video and audio—you can purchase the Owlet Cam separately or as a set.

It gives me peace of mind knowing my baby is sleeping safely when I am not in the room with him. Worth every penny.

We use this constantly. It gives us peace of mind, but it also tracks her sleep and how well each sleep session was.

It gives me peace of mind even 9 months in. I can easily look at her heart rate and oxygen especially when she isn’t feeling well. Just make sure it’s on correctly.

Not sure if it’s our wifi or the sock/base, but ours constantly disconnects and beeps throughout the middle of the night. We also constantly get sock placement warnings throughout the night and end up having to turn the base off so then it’s like what’s the point? And yes, I have tried putting the sock on different feet, tried different sizes and made sure it was tight so it wasn't coming off. However, being a new parent, having it for the first couple months was valuable just to help put our mind at ease.

The idea of this is calming, but I ended up using it only 3 times.

Their slogan says it all: “up all night so you don’t have to be”. It gave me incredible peace of mind to be able to watch my baby’s heart rate and oxygen level in real time.
