Description

Looking for tried-and-true? This set contains classic-shaped bottles, but the nipple has been updated with a valve that keeps air from getting into your baby’s belly. The kit also comes with one-piece, molded silicone pacifiers and a travel cup to hold enough formula to make three bottles. Later, use the cup to take snacks on the go.

Some parents report that the Newborn Flow nipples let liquid out too fast for their infants, though at around four months they seem to be better able to handle the flow.

When it comes to getting an eating rhythm down, it’s really all about the nipple flow. Pediatricians recommend using a “slow flow” nipple (also called Level 1), so that the baby doesn’t get too much milk at once. Around three months old, your baby will probably be ready to graduate to Level 2. This starter kit includes 5 Level 1 nipples and 2 Level 2 nipples, so you will be all set for six months.

This pack includes two different flows - the newborn one lets out the smallest amount of liquid while the slow flow one picks up the pace up a bit. But some parents report that even with the newborn flow nipple, the liquid still comes out too fast for their infants, and they don’t have this problem with other brands’ slow flow nipples.

Philips AVENT also offers a gift set of their Natural bottles, which have a more nipple-like shape. (Also, even though the title of this product does not say “BPA-free,” it is BPA-free.)

I have been well pleased with the Avent starter set. There really is no downfall about this product other than I have another brand of breast pump and don't end up using the bottles as often as the other brand. I really like the bottle brush and the handle it comes with now that my baby can actually grasp onto it :)

It's a great set, but for kids who don't like bottles it is really going to collect dust fast. A single quick flow nipple is pretty blah. Handled bottles and cups aren't gonna be used by your newborn.

Great bottles! Loved that it came in a set so I didn't have to search and buy a bunch of random things we may or may not have used.
