Best New Baby Products of 2020

Wondering about the newest, most innovative baby products that hit the market in 2020? We sorted through the (long) list to share with you our absolute favorites to help make your life as a parent just a little bit easier.

Streamlined Ride

This streamlined ride checks every box of what we look for in an awesome stroller. It’s compact (30% more so than traditional three-wheel strollers), easy to fold with one hand, self-stands when folded, has a great suspension system, steers beautifully…the list goes on. It works for both city and suburban families and has already gotten rave reviews from parents.

A (Truly) Easy-to-Use Carrier

Babies and parents alike love baby carriers, but they can be tricky to use. Not the case with the Free. It’s super easy to get on and off solo and can be used from the newborn days until your little one is 26 pounds or about 15 months old. The mesh material keeps both of you from overheating, and your baby can face in or out once they’re five months old or so.

Super Soft

Known for their buttery soft (and incredibly popular) wraps, Solly released a line of crib sheets this year made from the same ultra comfortable material—and we couldn’t love them more. They’re also sustainably made and come in a beautiful range of soft neutrals.

Try Before You Buy

Curious about cloth diapering but don’t want to commit? The “try it” kit from Esembly is your answer. This new kit includes everything you need to give cloth diapering a go without having to stockpile tons of essentials first. It includes three organic cotton inners, one waterproof outer, a two-month supply of washing powder, step-by-step laundering instructions and a waterproof dry bag.

Playard + Bassinet

Most parents likely know (and love) Baby Jogger for the brand’s amazing line of one-handed fold strollers, but we think you’re going to love this new playard just as much. It weighs only 13 pounds and can be used as either an elevated bassinet (a great feature that makes getting your baby in and out a lot easier on your back) or a traditional playard. We also love that it’s easy to break down and that the mattress fits both the bassinet and the playard for easy storage.

For a Safer Ride

The Nuna Pipa is one of the most popular infant car seat choices for Babylist parents and loved for its great design and excellent safety features. While the original Pipa + base isn’t going away, this year’s release of the new Relx base adds even more to love. The new design allows for a better installation in more vehicles and features an open belt path for easier install. The Relx also has a four-position on-the-go recline, an improved load leg and lower profile base that makes it easier to get your little one in and out.

Stop the Spills

We love a simple, affordable product that solves for a tricky parenting problem. In this case, it’s trying to fill a bottle or sippy cup with one hand while holding your little one with the other. The Bokee suctions to any smooth, dry surface and snugly holds any size bottle or sippy cup so you can fill it without worrying about it tipping over. It also works just as well for filling breastmilk storage bags. So smart!

Time Saver

Looking for a fast, easy way to get a warm bottle of formula to your hungry baby? The Instant Warmer is your answer. It dispenses warm water on demand at three different temperature settings depending on what your baby prefers. It holds up to 50 ounces of water (enough for an entire day) and doesn’t hog a lot of counter space either.

Just for Mom

FridaBaby makes some of the most innovative baby products out there (we’re looking at you, NoseFrida, Windi and so many more) so it’s no surprise that their new line for postpartum moms is just as brilliant. This compact kit includes everything you’ll need after a vaginal birth, including products to cleanse, wear, cool and absorb, soothe and relieve pain in the perineal area.

Perfect for Travel

We see a lot of strollers roll our way—and the Joolz Aer is one of our absolute new favorites for 2020. This stroller boasts almost all the features we love in a full-size stroller but in a compact, travel-friendly edition instead. It’s comfy for your baby and a dream to steer. And the best part? It folds down with just one hand and can be slung over your shoulder so you can carry it wherever you need to go.

So Easy to Clean

Humidifiers are great to have in the nursery but a notorious pain in the you-know-what to clean. Enter the Easy Clean 3-in-1 for a nice change of pace. It’s designed with a wide opening that’s easy to reach into and scrub with minimal effort on your part. It’s a night light and scent diffuser, too, another nice bonus.

A Playroom Staple

A good set of blocks is a playroom staple that your child will use for years and years. This new set from Lovevery was crafted by child development experts and features 70 heirloom-quality wooden pieces all finished with non-toxic paint. There’s also a guide included that walks you through 20 stage-based activities to help your little one learn through play.

Just Right for Snuggles

Copper Pearl makes some of our favorite bandana bibs and bamboo swaddles, so we were excited to see the release of the brand’s new line of security blankets. They come in many of the same fun, whimsical patterns you’ve come to love from Copper Pearl and are sold in a pack of two so you’ll always have a backup ready to go.

Lifesaving Tech

This small piece of smart tech has the ability to prevent one of the worst things you can imagine as a parent—leaving your child behind in the car. It’s a rechargeable car seat insert that senses when your little one is in their seat and alerts you via an app on your phone if you move too far away. If the alert goes unnoticed for more than 10 minutes, it automatically texts your emergency contacts. (It also automatically disconnects and turns off when your child isn’t in the car seat.)

Hybrid Carrier

The ComfyChic combines two baby products we love into one: a baby wrap and a structured carrier. It’s easy to put on, comfortable for you and for your little one and has four carry positions. The stretchy sides help to keep your baby snug and secure and help better distribute their weight.

Swiveling Car Seat

Car seat nerds unite: the first 360-degree rotating car seat has landed in the US! Why is this so cool? Rotating car seats (seats that swivel from rear- to forward-facing with the touch of the button) are common across Europe but hadn’t arrived here until the Sirona S. A swiveling seat makes it so easy to get your little one in and out, especially when the seat is rear-facing. And that means you can keep your baby rear-facing even longer—the safer position for them to ride. You also won’t have to reinstall the seat when it’s time to make the switch.

The Best Booties

Zutano booties are always top on our list of baby booties that actually stay on your little one’s feet. Previously only available in fleece, the famed booties now come in a soft, lighter weight organic cotton, perfect for warmer climates or for wear all year long. And don’t worry—the cotton version stays on just as well as the original fleece ones.

One and Done

Another new car seat we’re super excited about this year is the One4Life. It’s packed with safety features and very easy to install. The best part? It’s designed for 10 years of use so it’s the only car seat you’ll ever need.

For a Longer Night’s Sleep

We’ve loved the mamaRoo swing for years thanks to its soothing motion that mimics human movement. Now meet the brand’s newest addition: a sleep bassinet. It uses the same proven motion techniques that work so well with the swing and can help your little one fall asleep and stay asleep longer. It features five different motions, five speed settings, vibration and white noise as well as a flat, firm sleep surface and mesh sides for a safe night’s sleep.

High-End Features, Low Price

Mockingbird’s Single Stroller was featured in our Best New Baby Products of 2019 list, and now the parent favorite brand is back with a new expandable single-to-double version that’s perfect for parents of multiple kiddos. It’s more expensive than the single model, of course, but still well below what you’d pay for many convertible strollers from other brands. It features 19+ arrangements and all of the same great features as Mockingbird’s single stroller model.

Bedside Bassinet and More

Halo’s newest bassinet has a feature we can’t believe wasn’t thought of sooner: the bassinet portion detaches from the stand and can be used as a sleep solution or baby chill spot wherever you need one. Genius! Other features include everything we’ve come to know and love about Halo bassinets like a swiveling, adjustable stand, breathable mesh sides, a retractable wall and a space-saving design.
