Because playards serve so many different functions, it can be tricky figuring out which kind of playard will work best for your family. Ultra-lightweight and portable? Most bells and whistles? Easiest to fold? The Breeze Plus playard from 4moms is a happy mix of everything: sleek and easy to use with just the right amount of bonus features. In the video review above, Babylist Scout Courtney tested whether it’s as easy to set up and take down as it promises. Here’s what you should know.

What It Does

The Breeze Plus playard is best known for its easy one-handed fold. You open it by pushing on the center of the playard until it locks into place, and fold it back up by pulling on a fabric handle that’s located in the same spot. Like this:

But don’t a lot of other playards promise an easy fold too? The short answer: they do! The long answer: easy can be subjective when it comes to baby gear. Think about your suitcase and the difference that slightly smoother wheels can make when you’re trudging through an airport. The upgrades might not sound like much on paper, but in practice you can just feel the difference (and there’s often a lot less swearing).

The Breeze Plus also comes with a removable bassinet and changing table, so it can easily function as a command center in your living room (or bedroom if you’re room sharing with your baby). Watch Courtney’s video to see how they streamlined those features too—the adjustable-sized mattress is a nice touch!

Why You Might Want That

When it comes to choosing a playard, there are often two very distinct choices: ultra-lightweight portable playards designed for travel, and feature-packed playards that are more like cribs that you can fold and store in your closet. Each serves a purpose, depending on how and where you’ll be using the playard most.

The Breeze Plus combines the strengths of both. You get the benefits of an all-in-one care station, with a sleek design that doesn’t shout this is baby gear! And while it’s not the lightest playard around, it’s also not so heavy that you’ll avoid using it for travel.

The Breeze Plus does come in at a slightly higher price point than some of the other playards you may be considering. Whether that extra cost is worth it for you comes down to the suitcase analogy. You may not mind troubleshooting a slightly trickier-to-open playard if you’re going to keep it open every day. But if you want the flexibility to quickly pack up your gear for a night at the grandparents without having to field phone calls from them when bedtime rolls around, the extra cost might be worth it.

The 4moms Breeze Plus playard combines a lot of the features that make for a really great workhorse piece of gear. Watch Courtney’s full video review to see if it’s the right fit for your family.
