Update on how it’s all going!

Hi Everyone! With the third trimester fast approaching we thought we’d post a little update on what’s been going on.

So far baby is still doing great, her kicks are getting stronger every day. I’m definitely feeling the affects of the third trimester hitting quickly as the reality continues to set in. I can’t believe we’re only just a few months away! It’s exciting, overwhelming, absolutely terrifying, and still the best thing I’ve ever experienced.

We have decided to turn the empty guest room, originally planned for a nursery, into an office! We will not be providing the baby her own room when she is born, and do not anticipate putting together a nursery until the baby is at least a year old. This has trimmed down our registry A TON! Also, all our veteran parent friends who have gifted us all of their gently loved baby gear- Seriously, thank you, thank you, thank you!

This new plan allows us more space for Jared’s furniture so that we can finally empty his condo and ready it for sale. (Anyone wanna buy a condo in Denver?) This also allows me a more realistic care plan for how to manage an infant while recovering from a second foot/ankle surgery. We have a lot of stairs all over the house and until my foot can better handle these steps, you will not see me limping up and down them with a baby!

You may notice we don’t have any clothes on the registry just yet- Our baby is HIGH RISK for low birth weight due to Marginal Cord Insertion. I will have a second anatomy scan on April 27th to check her growth. We’ll add more clothes with sizing info once we have a better idea of how big (or small) she could be. Stay tuned for that major update!

Still no plans for a baby shower. Let’s face it, we’re not “Baby Shower” people. If you’d like to get together, talk baby, and watch us open your gift, we’d much rather go to dinner or have brunch. Feel free to pop by for a visit and witness the chaos that baby preparations have done to the house. We definitely plan to have a public get together for Jared’s birthday. Heads up, he wants birthday presents this year, and wants you to buy it from our registry so he doesn’t have to later. We’re also hopeful to have a small gathering for my birthday in June but I will also be 38 weeks pregnant by then. We joke that it’ll be a “Let’s see if we can get Betne’s water to break” party but in all seriousness, yes, we should do exactly that!

When it comes of non-registry gifts the only thing we ask is to be mindful that “Girl” does not mean everything pink or girly. We want her to explore all the beautiful things in life and never box her in to feeling like she can’t have, be, or do something because, “she’s a girl.” I want dinosaurs and bugs (obviously) but also blues, greens, trucks, and trains.

If you do send a gift directly to our address in Louisville, please be sure to add a return address or drop me a line with your address. We’d like to mail a special thanks after the baby is born. 🫶 Thanks again everyone! We’ll update again after April 27th!
