The Owlet Cam is a video baby monitor from the makers of the Owlet Smart Sock 2.

With 1080 HD video that streams directly to the Owlet app, it provides you with a clear view of baby whether you’re at work, on a trip or just in the other room. The 130-degree wide angle lens allows for better viewing of baby. Night vision lets you see baby in a dark room.

The Owlet Cam has two-way audio so you can talk to your baby or soothe them without going into their room, as well as background audio so you can listen to your baby while you use your phone for other things. There’s also a room temperature sensor so you can know if baby’s room is too hot or too cold.

The cam provides a secure connection with encrypted Wifi, and has an easy-to-install wall mount with cord cover.

The Owlet Cam is a standalone video baby monitor, but it connects seamlessly with the Owlet Smart Sock 2 (sold separately). The Smart Sock 2 tracks baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels while they sleep and notifies you if something changes. This makes a complete baby monitoring system, with video, audio and vitals.

Doesn’t work consistently. The whole point of a baby monitor is to hear and see your baby while they’re sleeping. The sound cuts out within two minutes of tuning in, and when you go to check, the picture is frozen. It’s not a one-off situation, as multiple people are complaining of this issue. I wish I would’ve known about this so I could’ve registered for a different brand. Buyer beware!!!

Doesn’t work. Takes forever to load if it loads at all. Terrible quality. Very frustrating. Don’t waste your money.

My husband and I received the Owlet Baby Monitor for our first-born as a gift that was included on our registry. We purchased the Owlet Smart Sock ourselves and wanted to have the monitor since they’re compatible with one another. So far, we love it! Since baby boy won’t be born until early fall, we have been using it with our pup (haha). From what I can gather so far, the camera is wonderful and I don’t mind at all that the pairing monitor is my phone, contrary to other parents who complain about that feature. The one negative that I have noticed is that when the camera is live, their is a bit of footage lag, however, I believe that’s due to our router being on the first floor of our 4-story home. Hopefully with some assistance from our internet provider, we can get that sorted before baby arrives in October! The packaging is so sleek (think Apple product packaging) and the directions to set up the camera are so simple (unless technology isn’t your thing, but the set up directions were super concise and easy to follow).

I was so excited about the Owlet camera as I love the sleek design and the fact that I can see everything from my phone, even if I am not home. However, I have never been able to register the camera and after multiple calls with customer service I have been told that this is a common issue and they are working on a solution, with no end in sight. In the meantime I have had to buy a new monitor out of pocket, as the Owlet camera was a registry gift. The most frustrating thing, aside from it not registering, is that I had to purchase a completely different Wifi router to even get to the point where I could try to register it, because the Owlet camera is only compatible with 2.4 gHz Wifi and will not connect to any 5.0.
