Why I Love It: The Wearable Pump That Made Breastfeeding Easier

We're talking to real parents about the baby gear they just can’t live without, from $20 snot suckers to $300 breathable crib mattresses and everything in between.

Why did she get it?

For influencer Amanda Asad, becoming a mom came with a clear intention. Newly postpartum with her baby, Kais, she knew breastfeeding was something she wanted to try.

“That was probably my biggest goal after I had the baby,” she said. “My older sister and my mom, they both breastfed, and so those were my examples in my life.”

In the hospital, Asad leaned on support from nurses, a lactation consultant and especially her sister to get started. As the weeks went on, she learned that while breastfeeding can be incredibly convenient, it also requires a lot of time and energy.

“It’s definitely exhausting and a commitment,” she said. “But there are perks to it where you aren’t washing bottles all the time.”

But Asad knew she wanted flexibility, hoping to breastfeed while also pumping so other caregivers  could feed Kais expressed milk—allowing her to return to work, take meetings and step away when needed.

“It’s been great because when I need to work, like if I have a meeting, I know that if he needs to eat that he can still eat and he doesn’t need me,” she said. “That part is definitely super convenient. It gives you your life back in a way.”

Before trying the Medela Magic InBra pump, Amanda was using a traditional wall pump, but quickly felt limited by it.

“The pump I started with was not a wireless pump,” she said. “I realized, ‘Oh, I literally have to sit here and hold this.’ This is going to take at least 15–20 minutes, and then you’re stuck there just holding it.”

As a new mom juggling work, household responsibilities and caring for a newborn, that setup didn’t fit her life. That’s when she turned to the Medela Magic InBra pump.

Why she loves it

After switching to the Medela Magic InBra pump, Asad immediately noticed how much easier pumping felt at home and while traveling; she brought it along on her family’s first vacation since having her baby. From little details that make pumping more comfy to true hands-free freedom, here’s what she loved about the pump:

  • Hands-free and wearable: “I find as a new mom between work, keeping up with the house, cooking and all of the little tasks in between, the electric wall pump I'd been using slowed me down,” she said. “The Magic InBra made the most sense for my lifestyle because I can wear it and it doesn’t get in the way.”

  • Hospital-grade suction with strong output: “The only thing I was worried about was getting as much milk output as the electric wall pump,” she said. “With the Magic InBra being hospital grade, the suction is amazing and I noticed a similar output.”

  • Tunnel light for easy alignment: “The tunnel light for easy nipple alignment is probably my most favorite feature,” she said. “I’m able to align super quickly each time for maximum milk output and comfort.”

  • Warming comfort while pumping: “I first noticed the warming sensation,” Asad said. “It’s a nice added touch that makes pumping more comfortable, and I look forward to that feeling when using the InBra.”

  • Quiet and discreet: “It’s much more compact, quiet and discreet than my wall pump,” Asad said. “Most of the time I was wearing it under my button down and no one even knew.”

Who would she recommend it to?

For new parents, there are many firsts that can be intimidating, including breastfeeding and pumping. For Asad, the Medela Magic InBra pump helped make pumping feel less stressful and more achievable.

“I’d recommend the Magic InBra to any mom who wants to take the stress out of pumping,” she said. “Whether you’re multitasking around the house, working, or just want a stress-free pumping experience.”
