Let's talk: mom friends
One piece of insight we’ve received from Babylisters is that this period of the postpartum journey can feel a bit isolating. That’s because it’s the time when family and friends aren’t checking in or offering to help as frequently. (And you’re expected to have it somewhat figured out, but you’re still internally screaming: SAVE ME!)
If you can relate, it might be a good time to think about your support network, because as it clearly states in The New Mom Welcome Packet: “Basically, every mom is your friend now.” You heard that right! It's permission to slide into other moms' DMs at 3 a.m. when you're up nursing and have a baby question. Haven't talked to them in years? Who cares! If they have a baby the same age as yours, you are basically besties now.
So to help you think about your crew (and encourage you to lean on them), the editors at Expectful put together a list of the 14 types of friends you need postpartum. And if you’re looking to expand your network, here’s a guide to making ✨ new ✨ “mom friends” (even if you don’t feel like leaving the house).
