Overview

Highlights

  • 4 styles from ergoPouch, Love to Dream, Halo and aden + anais
  • Babylist exclusive

Description

Swaddling can be introduced as soon as baby is born. Not everyone can swaddle as well as a Labor+Delivery nurse, so having multiple styles on hand for when parents return home is key. This allows parents to see which type of swaddle works best in real life before stocking up. The swaddles arrive in a gift-ready box.

Swaddling is great for a few reasons:

  • It prevents the newborn startle reflex from waking baby up
  • The womb-like wrap comforts and calms
  • Keeps baby warm without loose blankets, which are a sleep hazard for babies

Our Swaddle Box includes four of the bestselling, most-loved options out there. The swaddles all have a few things in common: they’re soft and breathable, hip-healthy and select styles allow for diaper changes without removing the whole swaddle.

Here are the four styles:

ergoPouch Cocoon Swaddle Bag 1.0 TOG

The Cocoon Swaddle Bag is firm enough to restrict the startle reflex, while still allowing stretch and movement. Handy arm poppers transition the Cocoon from an arms-in swaddle to arms-out sleeping bag when baby is showing signs of rolling. Soft organic cotton is certified non-toxic, dyed with water-based dyes and gentle on skin prone to eczema. The 1.0 TOG rating is ideal for room temperatures 70-75°F without the need for additional blankets.

Love to Dream Swaddle UP Original

Swaddle UP has the distinction of being a zip-up swaddle that allows your baby to sleep with their arms up. This natural position gives your baby access to their hands for self-soothing (baby can suck on their fingers right through the fabric), while the fabric “wings” protect little faces from fingernail scratches.

Halo Cotton SleepSack Swaddle

Super versatile, the Halo SleepSack Swaddle can be worn three ways to adjust to your little one’s sleep style: arms-in to reduce startle reflex, hands-to-face for self-soothing and one or two arms-out as a gentle transition for when it’s time to stop swaddling.

aden + anais Essentials Cotton Muslin Swaddle

aden + anais is designed for classic swaddling (i.e. no zippers or Velcro). This option can take a little practice to get the hang of, but it has a few upsides: the blanket creates a snug and stretchy swaddle, you only have to buy one size and it doubles as a nursing cover, burp cloth, tummy-time blanket and more. They’re also known for beautiful prints and fabrics that get softer with every wash.

Maybe Not Worth it, Just Depends on Your Baby
On one hand, this is a decent price to be able to try out multiple expensive brands of swaddles. On the other hand, your baby will probably grow out of these newborn sizes fast. My baby was born in the 50th percentile and could only fit in the swaddle up and ergo pouch for 2-3 weeks. He also hated having his arms contained right from the get-go, so while he could fit in the Halo and swaddle blanket a little longer, we just switched to regular wearable blankets for a much easier and happier time. You never know what your baby will like! This is sort of expensive to not be able to use for long.

Very cute idea but the box only had one size for all so it was very hard to know which one worked for my baby. So I just decided to return it.

A MUST TRY
I added this to my registry on a whim and never thought much of different saddles until I tried the Love to Dream arms up swaddle sack. My little one LOVED it, so much so that when he grew out of the one that came in the box I got the next size up, and when he grew out of that one I got a bigger one, so on and so forth. I never would have purchased an arms up swaddle had I not tried this box. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

Too small
Same as others, these were way too small already so we never used a single one. Waste of money unfortunately.

TOO SMALL
Baby was born at 8 lb and these were all way too small. We couldn’t use any of them unfortunately. Such a bummer :(

SMALL
It's very small and not worth the price! I got these as my registry gift, and I was excited to try it out! However, my baby was born less than 7 lbs at 37 weeks, and I couldn't even fit him in the Ergopuch and Love! It's an absolute waste of money and does not recommend it.

The swaddles might be too small right off the bat. I had a 50% sized baby, <7lb at birth but the love to dream swaddles was already too small. The rest of the swaddles fit snug but there is a high chance that your baby won’t be able to fit into any of these right away.

Great Product
Fantastic product. Gives you some trial and error to see what baby likes most. All swaddles are great quality and well diversified.

Beware
Beware you cannot return or exchange products in this box if any products do fit (you have to return all of them together). The ergo pouch included was too small for my baby (he was 7lb, but could not close the zipper over the chest area) and had to give it away. Waste of money in my opinion. Wish I read the reviews before I purchased! You are better off buying individual swaddles to try.

Definitely lucky our newborn was small for us to get good use out of trying these. He immediately took to the Love To Dream Swaddle Up once we gave it a shot. We actually started with the Halo based off my nephew’s preference, and it worked just fine, but just like the bottle box, this was a great opportunity to explore what baby prefers.
