Why I Love It: The Espresso Machine That Keeps A Sleep-Deprived Mom Going

We're talking to real parents about the baby gear they just can’t live without, from $20 snot suckers to $300 breathable crib mattresses and everything in between.

Why did she get it?

Motherhood is a major shift—new routines, long nights and figuring out what brings you joy in the middle of it all. For many parents, small daily rituals (like a cup of coffee) can become lifelines. Sarah Kim knows this all too well. Becoming a mom to her 3-month-old daughter has meant a sleep-deprived fourth trimester, especially because she’s exclusively breastfeeding. She admits breastfeeding on demand has made for a simpler daytime routine, but at night, it’s a little tougher. “In the day, we can just leave the house without feeling like we have to have bottles and supplies ready,” Kim says. “So it feels very easy, but at the same time, [breastfeeding] means I'm the only person that can feed her, so I’m the one waking up with her.”

Through the sleepless nights, she’s relied on one thing to keep her going: her love for coffee. As fans of what she calls “cute, crafty drinks,” Kim and her husband were used to daily cafe runs (fun fact: they even met at a cafe). But with a newborn, that isn’t as realistic.

So when they moved into a new place with a small bar area, Sarah saw an opportunity. “It felt fun to create a designated cafe at home,” she explains. With her parents stopping by often to help with the baby—and both being big coffee fans—setting up a home café meant she could share her favorite drinks with them, too.

That’s when she decided to try the Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier 3-in-1.

Why does she love it?

Unboxing the professional-level machine was a little intimidating at first, but once she got started, Kim realized it was easier than expected. “It only took me a day to get the hang of it,” she says. Small but mighty, the machine fit perfectly into her new home cafe setup.

The first drink she made? A vanilla latte. “I wanted to find out for myself how easy it was to pull espresso shots along with frothing the milk. The first sip of my vanilla latte took me by surprise because it tasted like cafe quality, and it was only my first time making it.”

Making coffee each morning has become a joyful ritual that helps her through sleep-deprived days. “Even though I’m tired, my cup of coffee gives me a boost,” Sarah says. She also loves making her mom a cup when she comes over to help with the baby. “My dad loves his sweetened lattes, while my mom prefers a simple brew,” Sarah explains.

And her parents are big fans, too: “They actually tell me my drinks are better than coffee shops,” she says with a smile. Having their support gives Sarah time to nap or even squeeze in a quick workout class, and being able to serve them feels like a bonus. Here’s what else she loves about the Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier 3-in-1:

  • Grind recommendation: “I personally love trying out different beans, and I know that different beans can require different grind sizes. It makes a big difference that I don’t have to make multiple failed drinks before I finally get the right grind size.”

  • The cold foam feature: “Because the weather is hot right now, I am obsessed with adding cold foam to my drinks. Before, I used a hand whisk to make my cold foam, and it would be very inconsistent, but now I don’t have that problem!”

  • Rapid cold brew: “I used to make my own cold brew, but it was time-consuming, and it also took up a lot of space in my fridge. I love that I can make my cold brew right on the spot without waiting 24 hours!”

Who would she recommend it to?

Whether it’s cold brew, a latte or a classic drip, daily coffee is a go-to ritual for many people pre-baby, and having a machine like the Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier 3-in-1 makes it easier to maintain once baby arrives.

For Sarah, it’s even become a little piece of joy in the midst of new parenthood. “I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys coffee shop drinks, but might not have the time to go out like me,” she says.
