Not as you’d expect but not all bad…
The wooden comb had some residue on it, clear and brown. Maybe dried glue? I am nit sure but unsettling to see crud in between the teeth of a comb for a newborn. I tried to scrap it off but some of it wouldn’t budge. The brush is very soft and clean with just a little shedding noted and no issues noted on the massage brush.

Shedding Bristles
Bristles come off of the bamboo brush extremely easily. There’s at least a handful of bristle strands stuck to my baby’s face, hair, and clothes after trying to use (extremely gently). Will return if I can - seems unsafe to have rogue bristles near a newborn’s mouth and eyes etc.

This brush is terrible. It sheds so bad, every time I brush my baby’s hair it leaves bristles everywhere. Don’t recommend.

Love it
Not only is this set beautifully packaged and perfect for a gift but it is high quality and functional. I absolutely love brushing my baby’s hair with the softest goat bristles and I am sure I will use the other brush and comb as his hair grows and fills in. Perfect set.
