Beautifiul book about unconditional love
I really love this book. It made me cry as a child (and as an adult ). I feel that a young child wouldn't understand the true meaning, so you might want to wait until they are older, or you risk making them very confused/sad. I was very young and it was read to us by our teacher. I remember she didn't explain it, so it really upset me. However, I believe it’s about loving someone unconditionally and letting them go, live their life, and do what makes them happy - and still continue to have that…

One of my favorites as a child

My husband’s favorite children’s book. He cried when I gave it to him for Christmas labeled “from Mom and Baby” to read to our baby girl who’s on the way 😊🤍

Classic children’s book
Haven’t read this to my 2 month old but will at some point and I’m sure he will love it just as I did when I was a kid.

This book makes me cry, maybe it’s the hormones but the personification of the tree makes it feel like the supportive part of the boy’s life that gives until there’s nothing else left of the tree. It's a sweet book.

It teaches kids to be selfish and only care about themselves.

One of my own personal favorites. Please don't listen to the person giving one star saying she would never want to raise such a selfish child. She obviously has no understanding of the point of the book. It has an easy story line for a young kid, though not for a toddler, and the message is beautiful as well as important.

I hate the theme of this book. It is such a sad depiction of love, and I would hope to never raise such a selfish child. Even when I was a little girl, I realized that this was an unhealthy kind of love. I really like the author, but this book is messed up.

Such a sweet book with a deep meaning. As a new parent I can relate with the tree so much. You give and give and give everything to your sweet baby and that shows your love. This book is a great read. I get emotional every time we read it.
