Need a stroller to bring along on family trips—but still have room for the rest of your gear? Or not sure whether you really need a full-size stroller? The Nuna TRVL stroller packs plenty of features, like a fuss-free self-fold, a full-coverage canopy and travel system compatibility, into its compact and lightweight frame (it’s even been dubbed one of our best travel systems of 2024!). And now the new TRVL lx and TRVL dubl strollers build upon the original TRVL with baby and parent-friendly upgrades.

Want to know which of the three will help your family get around with ease? Watch the video above to see the TRVL strollers in action and what makes them each special, or use the flowchart below to find out which model is right for your family. But first, here are a few things Nuna’s three TRVL strollers have in common:

  • Travel-system ready: All of the car seats in the Nuna PIPA series click directly into the TRVL series stroller armbar—no adapters needed (which you can see at the 01:18 mark in our video). In travel system mode, the stroller canopies also nest over the car seat canopies to give babies some extra shade. (Not sure which Nuna PIPA car seat is right for your family? We have a flowchart to help ID which one you’ll like best).

  • Effortless self-fold: The Nuna TRVL series stroller fold is one of the easiest we’ve ever seen: They self-fold with the push of a button right into a standing position (so you don’t have to worry about your stroller falling over and touching the ground). You can also use the armbar as a handle when you need to carry it around.

  • Self-guiding magnetic buckle: Each side of the buckles on these strollers (and Nuna’s new high chair) glide together to lock into place—you may even be able to do it one-handed! See it in action at 01:53 in the video above. Each stroller also has a no-rethread harness, which means you can easily adjust the straps when a growth spurt happens seemingly overnight.

  • All-wheel suspension: While these strollers are designed more for urban outings than hiking paths, they are surprisingly robust for a travel stroller. They give a smooth ride over bumpy sidewalks or cobblestone streets, and you can lock the front swivel wheels for a more stable ride across uneven terrain (think: finding a spot for a playdate in the park).

  • Easy-access storage basket: Nuna’s baskets are smartly designed so that you have access to the entire space without any part of the frame blocking your way. This means it’s easy to stow your diaper bag or any errands you pick up throughout the day.

Now let’s take a look at which Nuna TRVL stroller fits your needs!

Nuna TRVL Stroller Flow Chart 002

Find Your Ride:

You got: Nuna TRVL

The TRVL is Nuna’s original lightweight travel stroller. It’s compact, yet loaded with plenty of innovative features like a one-handed recline and windowed canopy, and the same one-handed steering and easy maneuverability as Nuna’s full-size stroller lineup.

Although you’ll have to wait until baby can sit up independently to use the actual stroller seat, when paired with a Nuna PIPA infant car seat, it’s one of the lightest travel systems on the market. The stroller itself only weighs 13.6 pounds (the canopy and arm bar do add another pound), which is a bonus if you live in a city and take public transportation regularly, are short on storage space or plan on traveling frequently.

Speaking of travel, the TRVL stroller comes with a carry bag, but you can also buy a sturdier transport bag. (It may not fit in every plane’s overhead bin, it’s easy to gate-check). Head to the 03:41 mark in our video review to get a full rundown of the TRVL and see it in action.

You got: Nuna TRVL lx

The newly launched TRVL lx takes everything the TRVL does and levels it up for comfort, easier use and perhaps best of all—earlier use. It’s designed to be a lightweight everyday stroller—not just for travel—with user-friendly features for parents who may not have the storage space or need for a full-size stroller.

What sets the TRVL lx apart from the TRVL:

  • Use it from birth: One of the best upgrades to the lx model is the carriage mode with near-flat recline. This means your baby can use the stroller seat from birth (unlike the TRVL, where you’ll need to wait until baby can sit up independently (around six months old). Nuna also revamped how the seat reclines. Like the TRVL, it’s a one-handed adjustable recline, but the lx has what’s called a “shadow reel recline”, meaning you adjust the recline with a drawstring-like mechanism, which is easier to customize how upright or reclined the seat is. The adjustable calf support also raises to convert the seat to a carriage position that makes it usable for a newborn (Skip to the 02:28 mark in the video to see that transformation in action).

  • Larger wheels: This ride has the same all-wheel suspension and never-flat tires of the original TRVL, but the front wheels are .5 inches bigger and the rear wheels have a more noticeable 1.5-inch increase. This means your pushing power and maneuverability is a bit easier, especially if you’re going over some bumpy pavement or unsteady path.

  • Extendable canopy: The TRVL lx has an extra mesh panel that unzips to enlarge the canopy for more shade and extra airflow.

These souped-up features do make the TRVL lx three pounds heavier than the TRVL and a bit bigger in the folded position, which puts it right up there with other lightweight travel systems. Head to the 02:07 mark in our video review to get an overview of the TRVL lx and see it in action.

You got: the Nuna dubl

Think of this double stroller as a side-by-side version of the TRVL lx—with the same upgrades to the wheels, canopy and use-it-from-birth recline, but double the kiddo capacity. At 25.2 pounds, it’s a comfortable weight to lift in and out of cars and can be easily carried by the arm bar. But the best part? It can fit through standard doorways even with a car seat attached and is compliant with most theme parks, aka Disney-friendly.

A few of our favorite things about this side-by-side stroller:

  • Independent seats: While they share an arm bar, each seat has its own one-handed recline, adjustable calf support and extendable canopy. Something unique about this side-by-side stroller is that the seats are a 60/40 split when it comes to width, meaning that one side is slightly wider than the other, although both sides can comfortably hold kiddos from birth to 50 pounds (around 5–6 years old).

  • Car seat compatible: Like the other TRVL models, an infant car seat can clip onto the arm bar of the wider side of the DUBL to create a travel system (it fits on the wider side). While the stroller can’t hold two car seats, you can use both stroller seats from birth by raising the footrest and converting them into carriage mode like you would on the TRVL lx, particularly helpful if you’re expecting twins.

  • One-handed compact fold: This self-fold is so easy—especially for a double stroller—that it’s worth highlighting again. At the push of a button it folds into itself and stands up on its own—with the arm bar at the top to use as a handle when you need to get it in and out of a car or closet.

  • Open storage basket: Like the single TRVL strollers, there is no bar or strap going across this basket (which is convenient since two kids = twice as much stuff), so you can stuff it up to the generous 22-pound weight limit without having to squish your diaper bag around the stroller frame.

  • Even weight distribution: Double strollers can be a bit unwieldy, due to their size and occupancy, but there’s no need to worry about this stroller riding unevenly—whether you’re riding with one or both kids. The DUBL has a wide wheelbase in the front and back which helps control its center of gravity and makes it easy to push, even when there’s more weight on one side of the frame.
