While you could always use a receiving blanket as a burp cloth, these have special features that make them highly functional and convenient for the job.
Both sides are made of ultra-soft layers of 100% cotton cloth—patterned on the front and plain white on the back. An inner layer of absorbent fleece ensures that spit up won’t seep through onto your clothes, and the generous size gives you ample coverage, helping to keep you clean.
They’re sold in sets of three in patterns that pair with Copper Pearl’s line of bandana bibs.

Fun prints but don’t absorb spit up!
I am surprised that there are so many 5 star reviews for these burp cloths. I agree that they are soft, fun prints and made of good material but they do not absorb spit up at all! It literally slides down the cloth and into whatever you are trying to not get wet and defeats the whole purpose of a burp cloth. Add that to a sleep deprived momma during a 3am feeding and it does not mix well! So if you are going for soft, fun prints these are for you. If you are going for burp cloths that absorb anything I would go with a different style/brand.

Colors of burp cloths distorted
I have always been a big fan of Copper Pearls bubs and burp cloths. The colors in the online pictures are misleading. They are much more muted in tone than what appears online.

don't bother with any others
These are the only ones we use out of the several we tried. They absorb everything and are soft. We honestly don't even bother with the thinner cotton or muslin burp cloths.
