Overview
Description
The Nuna PIPA is a lightweight and sleek car seat known for its True Lock safety system. This is the extra base to it. The car seat comes with a base as well, but an extra base can be so helpful if you are a two-car family or if your baby will be riding with grandparents or caretakers often. It lets you move your car seat back and forth without having to use the seat-belt-installation method and saves you from shelling out for an entire second car seat. (Some families opt to just get two car seats because remembering which car has the carrier can be a hassle.)
The Nuna PIPA base comes with the same stability load leg and the True Lock installation system as the base included with the seat. It also has red/green indicators that show when the base and stability leg are properly installed and bubble level indicators that assure you it’s at the proper angle.

the description of the pipa lite rx says you dont need a base…you had answered in a previous question that traveling without the base is ok….so does some one have to get the base if they have 2 cars? are you only supposed to use it baseless if your in like a quick taxi/uber ride?
Best Answer: It's totally safe to use without a base, whether you are in an Uber or your own vehicle. But if you have two cars and they both have the car seat base installed, it makes installing the car seat easier. This car seat base also offers extra support because of the load leg.
Can I use this base for the PIPA urbn travel one?

Not Sturdy
Do Yourself a favor and just order the RELX base for the extra $40.
The Load leg on the PIPA is flimsy and does not provide a reliable lock. Base was not compatible in either my car or my husbands due to the load leg not staying in place. Proper recline could not be achieved and would become askew when the load leg would move.
RELX base is a little more expensive but that thing is STURDY. For first time parents we didn't want to leave anything to chance. This was not worth it.

It works great, I don’t think the load leg is necessary though. Now that I have it and think about it I don’t understand the point. If you roll it’s going to extend more when the car is upside down and then the car seat wouldn’t be level when it flipped back over. It shouldn’t automatically extend.

When the seat/carrier is not in it, it vibrates and rattles (makes noise). Be aware that depending on the size of your vehicle you may not be able to comfortably seat someone on the passenger side in front seat

I love how easy it is to install and would be easy to move from car to car. However, the leg never seems to be secure and makes a clicking sound
