When should I start using a bib for my baby?

With every meal, your baby is getting better and better at eating, but chances are not all of the food on your little eater’s plate is going to make it into their mouth (especially if you’ve got a self-feeder). Spills and dropped food are inevitable, so you’ll definitely want some bibs to contain the overflow and keep your kiddo’s cute outfits pristine (well, relatively). Even if your baby isn’t eating solid foods yet, bibs can still be a huge help for catching drool and spilled milk or formula. Babies grow so, so fast, and you’ll want bibs that last more than just a couple of months, so look for ones that have adjustable closures and can fit a range of neck sizes that will last at least a couple of years. No matter what feeding stage your little one is in, there’s a pick on this [list of best baby bibs](https://www.babylist.com/hello-baby/best-bibs) to help keep them clean and dry.

Are silicone bibs better than fabric bibs?

Silicone bibs offer advantages like easy cleanup (just rinse and air dry), waterproof protection, and reusability. Fabric bibs are softer, more comfortable for sensitive skin, and come in fun designs. Many parents use both—silicone for messy meals and fabric for everyday wear.

How many bibs do I need?

Most parents find 8-10 bibs sufficient for daily use, accounting for multiple changes and laundry cycles. If you do laundry daily, 8 is enough. If laundry happens weekly, consider 10-12 bibs. Include a mix of styles for different situations.
