Best Answer: No. A subscription is not required to use the Nanit Pro or the Nanit app. Without a subscription, you still get live HD video, real-time sound and motion alerts, two-way audio, breathing motion monitoring (with compatible Breathing Wear), temperature and humidity monitoring, white noise, night light, and up to two caregiver accounts.
However, many of Nanit's advanced app features—such as sleep analytics, personalized sleep tips, video history, milestone tracking, cry detection, and extended smart alerts—require a paid Nanit Insights subscription after the included free trial ends.

Hardware Issues / Pairing button does not work / Nanit help is slow to act
The camera stopped working after 10mins with a hardware failure. The pairing/reset button is not responding.I have been contacting Nanit help and went through every troubleshoot option with no success. I am currently waiting for them to process my request to provide us a new camera under warranty and they are so slow getting it processed. We have a newborn and have not been able to use this camera yet. So far, it has been an enormous frustration while we are going through adjusting to our life…

Poor quality
I initially thought the Nanit would be superior to other baby monitors, especially after researching it on their website. I had previously returned another monitor because of poor video quality at night, so I was willing to spend more for something I thought would be reliable and higher quality.
Unfortunately, the Nanit has been a huge disappointment and is absolutely not worth the hype or the price. I’ve had it for about 16 weeks, and I’m already experiencing frequent connection issues.…

Always a little less than promised
First off, the monitor itself works great -- the camera image is pretty clear, the sound is good, and it's nice that you can zoom in. But overall it's one of the more expensive monitors/monitor systems, and a lot of the potential good features just fall short. While it's disclosed that the Flex Stand doesn't log certain insights, manual entries don't make it into the insights log either, so travel day/vacation data is totally lost. Loved at first, then went down hill
Loved it and worked great at first. Then as time went on had constant issues with connection to our wifi. Only device with issues resulting in baby crying at ngiht for who knows how long due to camera disconnecting on its own throughout the night with the only way to reconnect it of going into the nursery to disconnect the camera and reconnect in hopes of not waking up baby. IMO not worth the price for the amount of connection issues.

Terrible product
Shocked at how well reviewed this is. The insights are inaccurate (and cost $100 a year!) and the video stream constantly breaks! Then they blame your WiFi when literally everything else in your house that uses WiFi is working fine. Literally $400 for a product that cannot be relied on to give you video stream. Trash.

Not impressed
The camera itself is good but I would not recommend the new Nanit 8" display screen. The monitor screen stopped working and would not load after 3 months of use. So disappointing.

Love this monitor!
This monitor has helped me sleep little better at night ! My husband works nights and it's great that he can watch the baby also, so I can sleep more sound! Gives me more peace knowing that if her breaths get to low or the room gets to cold or if she's laying awake,he can call and let me know. However the thermometer is not very accurate at times and I do have to reset the camera at least once a week for connection failures.
