The Baby Shower Outfit Trends Expecting Parents Are Loving Right Now

If you’re planning on having a baby shower or baby sprinkle to celebrate your little one on the way, finding a dress that’s as stylish as it is comfortable is likely high on your to-do list. Whether you choose a dress that hugs the curve of your bump or a more flowy option that allows a cool breeze to pass through, your baby shower outfit should be something you look forward to wearing.

To help curate this list of styles, we asked real Babylist parents-to-be what they planned on wearing to their baby shower. While we saw mostly maxi dresses, there were some more out-of-the-box choices, like one person saying they went with a cute romper and another saying they put together a two-piece outfit that included a super unique top and jeans. Babylist parents also called out brands like Hatch and Club L London as their go-to for trendy dresses. I also did a deep dive on social to see what’s trending, what styles moms-to-be are rocking and the colors that keep popping up.

And since trends don’t always align with personal style (or your newfound maternity style), I also added in some classic silhouettes to the mix that’ll always hit. Something you’ll notice about our picks is that we’ve also included non-maternity dresses. A dress that’s not specifically designed for maternity can still be flattering, accentuate your bump and be comfortable to wear for hours on end.

From the viral dress I’ve seen on my feed a few dozen times to LBDs, these are the best maternity dresses, according to Babylist moms.

Maxi Dresses Are The Style of the Year

When we polled Babylist parents about what they wore to their baby shower, maxi dresses showed up the most, and we totally get why. A longer dress can be flattering on every bump—and if you opt for a flowy style, the airflow is a nice perk. Whether it was a dressier option like the powder blue pleated maxi from Club L London or something more casual, maxi dresses were a major win.

Showing Off the Bump

You can make your bump the star of the show by putting it on full display in your dress if you want to. These snug-fit dresses are just fitted enough to accentuate your bump without making you feel suffocated. Form fitting dresses aren’t the only way to put your bump front and center, you can also go for two pieces, like a skirt that sits under your bump and shorter top.

Above-the-Knee Dresses

While most of the parents-to-be said they chose a maxi dress for their baby shower, if you’re having a shower during the late spring or summer, above-the-knee dresses can keep you cool.

Casual Dresses

Want to go more casual? These laidback dresses can be worn for a lowkey shower and any other time so you’ll get your money’s worth.

Formal Dresses

And on the flipside, if you’re planning a more formal affair, these stylish showstopper dresses are beautiful and comfy since they are designed specifically for maternity wear.

Unique Options (Read: Not a Dress)

Yes, this is a guide full of baby shower dresses but when we polled users, a couple of them shared that they chose to wear something less expected to their shower. One said they wore a jumpsuit while another mentioned a cute top and jeans. And since it’s your shower and you can wear whatever makes you feel beautiful and comfortable, we love the idea of jumping outside of the box and going for something that feels authentic to you.
