Costco might not be the first place you think of when shopping for baby stuff, but it’s got some surprisingly great finds for new parents. From the bigger items like car seats and nursery furniture to smaller everyday essentials like diapers and feeding supplies, you can find a good amount of baby products at lower prices than most other retailers.
Of course, shopping at Costco comes with a few quirks. You need a membership to shop in-store, but you can shop online without one (more on that below). The selection is limited and changes often, so you may only see one or two brand options in big-ticket categories like gear or nursery furniture. And since everything comes in bulk, it helps to have the space to store those giant packs of diapers and wipes.

Diapers and wipes are everyday basics you’ll never want to run out of. Well known for their bulk packs, Costco makes stocking up simple and cost-effective. A month’s worth of diapers in one box? Yes please.
Soft, absorbent and a reliable parent favorite brand for decades, these diapers are designed to keep leaks in check and babies comfortable through day and night. You can get Size 1 diapers in a pack of 192 for $39.99 (compared to $53.99 for the same pack at Target).
You can also find Huggies wipes at Costco. These are the brand’s gentlest wipes for the most delicate skin, while still being thick, absorbent and durable.
Costco also makes their own diapers under the name Kirkland, which have historically been well-loved by parents and babies alike. They recently switched up their design, which some parents have feelings about, but at just $14.99 for a pack of 96 (Size 1), they’re still a cost-effective alternative to name-brand diapers.
Another Costco brand exclusive, these gentle, fragrance-free wipes were rated the best overall baby wipes by Babylist’s gear editor. They’re large, durable and great for sensitive skin.
Once your kiddo is ready for potty training, Costco’s got you covered there, too. You can find Huggies Pull-Ups in sizes 2T (128-count) to 6T (84-count) for $39.99—about five to seven dollars less than at other stores.

But keep in mind that Costco typically only has one or two big gear items available at a time, and they usually only carry Graco products, like the all-in-one car seat below (Graco is, however, one of our most recommended brands for convertible car seats). To check what they currently have available, check the Baby section of the Costco website—it’s easier than going into the store to check, especially since baby gear products may be a bit challenging to find in-store (the car seats are usually located in the automotive section).

Do I have to be a Costco member to get these deals?
If you want to shop in-store at Costco or directly from their website, you’ll need a membership. There are two levels:
Gold Star Membership: $60/year
Executive Membership: $120/year.
That may feel like just an extra expense at first, but the savings you get from buying diapers, wipes, formula and other baby essentials in bulk can quickly offset the cost, especially if you’re stocking up regularly. Here’s how that math works out using the large packs of Huggies Size 1 diapers:
4 packs of diapers at Costco: $40 each x 4 = $160
4 packs of diapers at Target: $54 each x 4 = $216
The difference: $56, or just $4 less than Costco’s annual membership fee
Not ready to commit? You can also buy Costco products through Instacart without a Costco membership. The catch is that prices are marked up, so you’ll pay more per item than you would in-store. Still, it can be a convenient option if you want access to Costco’s bulk packs and exclusive Kirkland brand items without signing up for a yearly plan.
The other thing to keep in mind is that Costco warehouses aren’t everywhere in the US; they aren’t currently in Rhode Island, West Virginia or Wyoming, and more rural areas of other states may be several hours away from the nearest warehouse location. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still shop at Costco! No matter where you are in the US, you can still get a membership, which allows you to shop online and have items delivered right to your door.
