Are you supposed to get plastic covers for this when using for rectal?
Best Answer: No. The Frida Baby 3-in-1 True Temp Thermometer is designed to be used without disposable probe covers for rectal, oral, or underarm temperature readings. The instructions recommend lubricating the tip for rectal use (for example, with coconut oil or another water-safe lubricant), then cleaning and disinfecting the thermometer thoroughly after each use.

Inaccurate Rectal Teml
The only reason it gets two stars is because of the design and ease of use. It reads significantly lower than actual temp. I took my baby to the ER unnecessarily because of this, don’t get this.

Inaccurate temp readings
Temps read continuously low and resulted in an unnecessary ER visit for baby before we noticed the issue.

Garbage
Ordered one on Amazon. The temps were showing very low, clearly wasn’t working. I reached out to FM and they sent me another one. Same issue. The temps are reading 96 degrees, even rectally. Such a shame that they both have to go to the landfill.

Worst thermometer ever used.
This is the worst, least reliable thermometer we’ve used. It can’t read most of the time and when it does it is inconsistent.

Do not buy this
I added this to my registry thinking Frida is a pretty trustworthy brand. My 8 week old was extra sleepy and not wanting to eat as much so figured I'd take her temp. Three times, twice rectally for best accuracy and once in the armpit all read 94-95. Called my pediatrician obviously and they made me hang up and call paramedics. They took her temp and blood sugar and all was normal. Read the other reviews and beware- I'm one of several parents who had to seek emergency intervention due to this faulty thermometer.
