The Best Diaper Bags of 2026: Stylish, Organized and Parent-Tested
The Best Diaper Bags of 2026: Stylish, Organized and Parent-Tested

Babies come with a lot of gear, and a good diaper bag helps keep it all organized for running a quick errand or heading out for a full day.

We tested diaper bags across our team of editors, and the Skip Hop Forma Next is our top pick. It stands out for its functionality, comfort, style and affordability. But because the right diaper bag depends on your specific needs and personal style, we've included plenty of other options to help you find the right fit.

How We Judged the Best Diaper Bags

Functionality
What’s a diaper bag without great organization? Not one that I’d want to carry. All of the bags on this list have a bunch of organizational features to make life as a parent on-the-go easier.
Style
Just because it’s for your baby, doesn’t mean you can’t love wearing it, too. I made sure to include a wide array of styles to suit any parent’s taste.
Comfort
Lugging around a diaper bag can get heavy, but the bags on this list are super comfortable even when fully packed.
Price
Whether you’re a parent who just wants something functional or the type who wants to treat themselves to something that matches their style, we curated this list with all budgets in mind.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Lots of organization
  • Comes with portable changing pad

Cons

  • Some parents say it’s a bit small

Skip Hop's Forma diaper bag has been a parent and editor favorite for many years running—and the brand recently released a newer version that's marginally better.

The Forma Next keeps everything parents loved about the original: a roomy main compartment with an extra-wide opening, two included storage cubes (one insulated, one mesh) in the front zip pocket, a portable changing mat and a lightweight design that comes in a few colors to suit every style. But it fixes three things the original got wrong. The side bottle pocket is now adjustable and fits handles on 30oz tumblers—so your Stanley actually fits, unlike the original. There's a luggage sleeve on the back (something original Forma owners asked for in their reviews). A padded mesh back panel adds breathability that was previously missing. "[Plenty of] space for everything you would need to bring," one parent shared in their review—true of both versions, but the Next makes the everyday details easier.

Worth noting:

  • A few parents mention the two front storage cubes are on the smaller side—great for organizing, but won't fit a full day's worth of snacks.

  • The original Forma had a known durability problem: broken straps, failing zippers and a flimsy changing pad showed up repeatedly in reviews. However, parents specifically call out the high-quality zippers and sturdy build in the Forma Next.

Best Diaper Bag for Heavy Packers

Pros

  • Large capacity
  • Tons of built-in storage
  • Quick access wipes pocket
  • Built-in changing mat

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Can get heavy
  • Some say quality isn’t great

As a fellow overpacker, I get the urge to pack all the things so you’re ready for every possible scenario. This diaper backpack from Beis has the space and organization to help you do exactly that. Parents love the convenient features, including an easy-access wipes pocket, detachable fanny pack and drop-down changing station. As one reviewer put it, “The baby wipes compartment is so clutch, and the drop down changing station in the back is a life saver.”

Inside, there are plenty of pockets so everything has a place, plus an insulated bottle pocket to help keep milk cool on the go. It also comes with a smell-proof bag, pacifier pouch, teething toy and stroller straps. Parents also appreciate the sleek, neutral look that works for any caregiver.

Worth noting:

  • All of that storage capacity does make this bag heavy, even unpacked (it’s about three pounds when empty)—which turns out to be parents’ biggest concern mentioned in their reviews.

Best Gender-Neutral Diaper Bag

Dagne Dover Indi Diaper Bag Backpack.

Dagne Dover Indi Diaper Bag Backpack

Pros

  • Roomy
  • Hands-free carry
  • Sleek, simple design

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Heavy
  • Light colors stain easily

The Dagne Dover Indi Diaper Bag Backpack blends sleek design with unbeatable functionality, creating a simple, gender-neutral look—whether that’s your aesthetic, or you’re sharing with a partner. The Indi is made from water-resistant neoprene and doesn’t really look like a diaper bag (which we love). It’s super comfy to carry and holds just about anything in its numerous pockets and pouches, and comes with clips to attach to your stroller as well as a mini changing mat and a few extra pouches. It’s available in three different sizes depending on how much stuff you need to pack. It also comes in a bunch of fun colors and Dagne Dover frequently releases seasonal, limited edition options, too.

There are a handful of things parents say they don’t like. Their biggest gripe is how dirty it gets, and then how difficult it is to get stains out of the bag, especially if you have a lighter color:  “It gets dirty very easily and stains are impossible to remove. [I] tried hand washing with cold water and dawn and nothing came out,” one parent said. And though it’s made of neoprene material (think scuba suit fabric), quite a few noted in their reviews that the bag was pretty heavy even when empty.

Best Budget-Friendly Diaper Bag

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Lots of organization
  • Neutral colors and design

Cons

  • Smaller capacity

Finding a diaper bag under $50 that actually feels functional can be surprisingly difficult. That's why we were impressed with the Sprucely Backpack. It covers the basics really well, offering plenty of organization, a lightweight design and a modern look without a higher price tag.

Parents consistently call out how much this bag can hold given its slim profile. There are dedicated pockets for bottles, diapers, wipes and personal items, plus a convenient wipes compartment that makes quick changes a little easier. One parent shared that after downsizing from a larger diaper bag, they realized they didn't need to bring nearly as much stuff as they thought.

We also appreciate that it doesn't scream "diaper bag." The simple design works long after the baby stage and feels more like an everyday backpack. For parents who mostly stick to errands, playground trips and shorter outings, it strikes a nice balance between functionality and affordability.

Worth noting:

  • Parents who prefer to pack extra outfits, blankets and toys may find the slim design limiting.

  • Some reviewers felt certain design features, like the oversized top flap and rear zipper pocket, prioritized style over function.

  • The side bottle pocket works best for standard-size bottles and water bottles; larger options may be a tight fit.

Best Luxury Diaper Bag

Caraa Baby Bag.

Caraa Baby Bag

Buy

Pros

  • Large capacity
  • Can doubles as a work bag after the baby years
  • 100% GOTS certified organic cotton

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Large size may be too big for some parents

As someone who appreciates bags for their style, I was really excited to test out Caraa’s popular baby bag. It’s a great blend of style and function. One parent said in their review, “Honestly, I’d carry this even if I wasn’t with my daughter—it’s just a well-made bag with thoughtful features.”  The first thing that stands out about Caraa’s baby bag is the wide top opening that lets you see everything you’ve packed. It has five elastic pockets in the main compartment—four around the side and front and one large pocket at the back. And what’s really unique is the removable insert that gives you four more pockets for even more organization. It slips into the back sleeve pocket, which is large enough to fit a 13” laptop.

The exterior zip pockets are insulated—ideal for keeping breast milk, formula or snacks on the go. The back comes with a shoulder strap and you can also use it backpack style—both of which are padded for extra comfort. (Pro tip: the straps fold away if you don’t want to use them, which is a nice feature not all convertible diaper bags have.) There’s even a trolley sleeve across the back making it travel-friendly, too. All of the features that lend to the bag’s functionality don’t take anything away from the style.

In addition to the organization, the materials Caraa uses also stand out. The bag is made out of water-repellant 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, with real leather trimmings. It’s also completely machine washable.

Worth noting:

  • At nearly $450, this is one of the most expensive diaper bags on our list, but the quality, durable materials and versatility mean you’ll get a lot of years of use out of it.

  • Some parents wish the insulated side pockets were deeper and easier to access, especially one-handed.

  • The large size is great for carrying a lot of gear, but may feel oversized for shorter outings or parents who prefer a more compact bag.

  • While the bag is machine washable, I would only recommend throwing it in the wash if a job spot cleaning won’t fix it.

Best Diaper Bag for New Parents

Mina Baie Emmy Diaper Bag - Terra.

Mina Baie Emmy Diaper Bag - Terra

From $199.00

Pros

  • Lots of pockets for organization
  • Versatile carry options
  • Quality materials that hold up over time

Cons

  • No insulated bottle pocket
  • Heavy when fully packed
  • Pricey

When I had two kids under two, I needed a bag that could carry everything for both of them—and still make me feel like a person. I wasn't heading to any offices, just parks and pediatrician appointments and grocery runs, but the Mina Baie Emmy made me feel put-together even on my most chaotic days. "The most gorgeous, beautiful, timeless bag. Love that it doesn't look like a typical diaper bag. It's giving chic honey," one parent raved in their review, and that's honestly exactly it.

It converts from a tote to a backpack depending on how your hands are occupied (and with two under two, they're always occupied), and it looks good doing it either way. The Emmy has a wide top opening that makes it easy to grab what you need on the go, with elastic pockets lining the interior front and sides, plus a zip pocket along the back wall. Parents love that even when it's fully loaded, it doesn't look or feel like it's bursting at the seams. "It has so many pockets and even when I overstuff it doesn't look bulky," one Babylist parent shared in their review.

The backpack straps free up your hands when you need them, the shoulder strap works when you don't, and two top handles mean you can grab it and go in a single motion. "I love the ability to switch from backpack mode to cute handbag. Truly so versatile," another parent wrote.

Worth noting:

  • The bag can get heavy when fully packed, especially when carrying gear for multiple children.

  • Some parents report occasional zipper issues, though overall quality reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

  • At around $200, it's an investment—but I can personally attest to its longevity.

Best Tote-Style Diaper Bag

Huggies Signature Hug Weekender - Bridal Rose.

Huggies Signature Hug Weekender - Bridal Rose

From $69.99
Buy
Buy

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Water-resistant material
  • Built-in wipes pouch
  • Two insulated bottle pockets

Cons

  • Might be too bulky for some

Huggies launched a line of diaper bags a few years ago, and we had high hopes for their designs. A diaper brand should know diaper bags, right? The Signature Hug Weekender didn’t disappoint. Though it’s called a “weekender”, it’s the perfect size for a diaper bag tote—which is part of the reason it’s our best pick in this category. It’s roomy, water-resistant and packed with practical features, all in a sleek tote-style design. Parents especially love the amount of space. One reviewer wrote, “We use it everyday, whether it be for a diaper bag, overnight bag, or just a catch-all.”

The nylon bag measures 14 by 15 inches and has multiple pockets, including two insulated bottle pockets and an easy-access wipes pocket. It also comes with a padded changing mat that slides into a back pocket, a longer adjustable strap for crossbody carry, stroller clips and a small pouch for poop bags. For under $100, you get a level of organization and thoughtful detail that's hard to find at this price point.

Worth noting:

  • The structured design helps keep everything organized, but it may feel bulky for some parents when fully packed.

  • If you prefer a backpack-style diaper bag, carrying a tote-style on one shoulder may become uncomfortable over longer periods.

Best Crossbody Diaper Bag

Citymouse Park Bag Crossbody Diaper Bag

From $65.99
Buy
Buy

Pros

  • Lightweight and comfortable
  • Accessible wipes pocket
  • Machine washable

Cons

  • Brand has stock issues
  • A full pack of wipes takes up a lot of space

A lot of parents eventually reach a point where they no longer want to carry a full-size diaper backpack everywhere. That's exactly where the Park Bag shines. It's compact without feeling cramped and manages to fit far more than you'd expect.

The standout feature is the dedicated wipes pocket on the front. It sounds simple, but having wipes available without opening the entire bag is surprisingly helpful when you're dealing with sticky hands, playground messes or emergency diaper situations. Parents also love the thoughtful organization, including interior bottle pockets and multiple compartments for snacks, diapers and other essentials.

The recycled nylon fabric keeps things lightweight, which makes a huge difference when you're carrying it for hours. And because the bag doesn't immediately read as baby gear, many parents continue using it long after the diapering stage.

Worth noting:

  • This is best suited for minimalist packers or parents of older babies and toddlers who need less gear.

  • A full pack of wipes can cut into the interior storage space.

  • Popular colors and patterns frequently sell out, so availability can be hit or miss.

Best Diaper Bag for Dads

Fifty Fifty Ready 22L Dad Diaper Backpack

From $159.00
Buy
Buy

Pros

  • Sleek, simple design
  • Tons of organization
  • Comes in two sizes

Cons

  • Changing mat sold separately

The Ready 22L is built for parents who want storage, organization, comfort and a sleek, non–diaper bag look—in fact, it’s our top diaper bag for dads overall! (See the full guide for more dad-approved diaper bags). It’s got all the features dads say they want ( comfort, storage and organization) without looking like tactical gear.

Two exterior insulated bottle pockets keep drinks handy, and the whole front panel unzips so you can grab what you need without digging. There’s even a vertical front zipper for quick peeks into the main compartment. One parent shared, “I’ve been really stoked on this bag for weekend trips with the kids and airplane travel. It has space for both kids’ stuff and mine, with really well-thought-out pockets.” Inside, you’ll find nine pockets for snacks, wipes and all the little things you don’t want lost in the shuffle. It even holds up to four water bottles. Reviewers love its versatility, with one writing, “This bag has infinite possibilities! I’ve used it for school drop-offs, days out with the baby and even for work. By far the best day bag I own.”

It comes in two sizes—22L and 26L—giving you options based on how much you pack (and how many kids you have). Parents with taller frames appreciate the proportional fit, and many call out the straps as “insanely comfortable” even when fully loaded.

Worth noting:

  • The larger size includes a changing mat, the 22L doesn’t—but you can buy one separately.

Best Diaper Bag for Travel

No Reception Club The Getaway Bag

From $235.00
Buy
Buy

Pros

  • Designed with traveling with a baby or toddler
  • Customizable interior "shelves" for flexible organization
  • Comfortable to carry
  • Ideal for twin parents

Cons

  • Bulky
  • May feel like overkill for parents who don't travel frequently
  • Higher price point

Traveling with little ones means you’re going to have to pack a lot of stuff; there’s just no way around it. No Reception Club was started by a couple who wanted to travel with their baby but couldn’t find a bag that checked all of the traveling-with-a-baby boxes—so they designed their own. The Getaway Bag is packed with thoughtful features that let you really personalize your organization (more on that next!) and more pockets than we can count, which means you won’t find yourself digging around in a black hole when you desperately need that pacifier mid-flight.

Our favorite feature that's unique to this bag is the center compartment with customizable “shelves” for organizing things just the way you like them. They’re flexible, adjustable and you also have the option to remove them. Another feature we love is the diaper compartment, an odor-resistant and waterproof pocket designed specifically for anything wet or dirty (because what would a plane ride with a baby be without a diaper blowout?). The concealed security pockets for passports and other valuables takes it up another level of convenience.

Not only is the organization ideal for packing all of the things, parents say the bags are durable and made well. "Impressed with the build quality of the backpack. The pockets are sewn well together and placement is well thought out. No complaints!" And as your baby grows and your packing needs change—fewer bottles, more snacks and activities—those adjustable interior shelves mean you can just reconfigure and keep going.

Worth noting:

  • This bag is big by design—great for travel and twins or multiples, but may feel like overkill for everyday use.

  • The customizable shelves take a little trial and error to set up; the founders recommend organizing by what you'll reach for most.

  • At over $200, it's a splurge, but parents say the durability makes it worth it.

Best Diaper Bag Inserts and Organization

Whether you’re using a bag that’s not technically a diaper bag or just want to add a little more organization, here are some inserts and accessories to consider.

I’m also Babylist’s associate editor; I’ve been immersed in the world of parenting and baby gear since 2020, writing guides to help parents find the best products for their lifestyle and families. • Feedback and reviews. I reviewed comments and feedback from Babylist’s most-loved products survey of thousands of parents, read customer reviews from hundreds of Babylist users and spoke to parents on our staff about their real-life product experiences.

Do I Need a Diaper Bag?

Having been a mom of two for over six years, my personal opinion is that everyone needs a diaper bag of some kind in the early days of parenting. You could definitely throw everything in your purse, or a tote you already have, but babies require a lot of stuff (especially in the beginning when they’re eating, pooping and napping around the clock).

A diaper bag is specifically designed to keep the necessities organized and—depending on the size—give you enough space to pack all of the “just in case” things. They often feature insulated pockets for bottles and other helpful perks, like easy access wipes pockets.  Having key essentials at the ready means you can deal with any scenario without having to pack up and head home.

What if I want to skip a diaper bag?

If a diaper bag isn’t your style, or you’re really attached to that Neverfull you’ve been carrying for years, you could get away with not using a diaper bag. The key would be in how you pack it. There are a few bag insert companies, who make organizational inserts to fit different kinds of bags. And accessories like pouches to keep smaller, like items together and a diaper changing clutch—a compact changing pad that can hold a few diapers and other bare essentials—can instantly convert any bag into a “diaper bag”. And the good news is that diaper bag designs have come a long, long way. You’re almost certain to find something that fits your style and needs!

I also love a car organizer—a dedicated basket or bag that you leave in your trunk that holds extra diapers, wipes, change of clothes and other essentials you might need. It’s especially helpful if you forget to restock your bag before you head out for the day!

What kind of diaper bag should I get?

There are different types of diaper bags and choosing one comes mostly down to how you want to carry it—backpack, tote, crossbody—and how much you want to be able to pack. We have a little bit of everything in this guide to help you find the one that’ll work best for your needs.

What Should I Pack in a Diaper Bag?

You’ve figured out which diaper bag you love—but now what are you supposed to pack inside of it? Figuring out how much (or how little) to stuff into your diaper bag is a matter of personal preference and will depend on the age of your child, but this is a good list of basics to keep in mind.

  • Diapers. Pack enough diapers to last the duration of your outing, plus a few extra in case of emergencies. Also, throw in a travel-size container of diaper rash cream and a small hand sanitizer.

  • Wipes. You can never have too many wipes. They come in handy for cleaning up many different messes, so pack whatever you can fit.

  • Changing pad. A portable changing pad means you’ll always have a clean and comfortable surface for diaper changes.

  • Extra clothes and burp cloths. Pack a change of clothes for baby and some burp cloths in case of spills or accidents. Pro tip: babies grow quickly, so dig through your diaper bag every few months and be sure the extra clothes you have stashed inside are size-appropriate.

  • Other extras. Pacifiers, a bib, a small toy or teether, a lightweight blanket, a small first aid kit, sunscreen and a sun hat, a wet bag and a nursing cover if you’re a nursing parent are other items to consider.
