Fresh Finds at JPMA

From diaper bags to strollers with so many carriers in between, we hunted down the freshest new gear that’ll make your life as a parent easier, lovelier and just more fun.

Our editors selected more than 20 of their favorite products from the JPMA Baby Show in Washington, DC. The top 10 Fresh Find winners are based on likes on videos from the Babylist Facebook page, and all the nominees are listed here. Some products are already available, and others are coming out this year, but we had to tell you about them as soon as we heard.

Winners

Roll On

At less than 13 lbs, the Diono Traverze is one of the first truly lightweight strollers. It has a full recline so it can be used from birth, and nice mesh sides for warm summer days. The wow feature: when folded, it has a handle like a suitcase so you can just pull it along behind you.

Did Minnie Babywear?

LILLEbaby makes one of our favorite carriers, the Complete All-Seasons. They have teamed up with Disney to bring a classy, subtle Disney print to their popular carrier. For the Disney-obsessed family or just the family headed to Disney, this is a fun, celebratory design to change up your carrier game.

All That Glitters is Gold

Ju-Ju-Be, a favorite, practical diaper bag company, has launched a new premium line, Rose Gold Collection. It includes three new prints: Sakura Swirl, Rose Colored Glasses and Whimsical Watercolors (pictured above). For the mom who wants the newest prints, this is it! It will be available in early April.

Shhh...Baby’s Sleeping

This stuffie plus sound machine plays a safe pink noise for 40 minutes. It’s OEKO-TEK approved, so you can know that the materials don’t contain any harsh chemicals. It also reacts to baby’s cry, so when baby starts crying, the noise will start again. The bear’s feet have magnets so it can be safely attached to a crib or car seat, close enough to soothe baby but not too close to be dangerous.

Inexpensive but Chic Double Stroller

Evenflo Pivot Xpand Travel System is one of the only double stroller kits that come with a toddler seat and an infant car seat out of the box (it includes the new Evenflo SafeMax Infant Car Seat). It has a nifty design for the second seat connection: instead of needing an adapter, the front part of the basket pops up to reveal the base for the second seat. It also has the features of a luxury stroller (adjustable handlebar, self-standing fold and a large basket) without the luxury price. It will be available in July 2018.

Reversible Playtime with a Soft Landing

The new reversible playmat from Skip Hop is sleek and modern on one side and all play on the other. With the same styling as their Vibrant Village Activity Mat for infants, it is soft for toddlers who love to tumble and can be an imaginative backdrop for dreaming up your own town or race track. At 86” by 52”, it takes up a lot of space and doesn’t come apart like Skip Hop’s floor tiles. It rolls up for storage and needs to be spot cleaned.

Oh My, Oh Joy!

Joy Cho, the designer behind Oh Joy!, teamed up with Baby Tula for two new prints for the popular Baby Tula carriers. These fun, bold designs will be available on the Toddler, Standard and Free-to-Grow carriers, and on Tula’s popular blankets and cuddle blankets in case your queen bed needs a new throw, too. They will be available in late March on ohjoy.com and babytula.com.

Safe Bathtime Fun

This is the first bath seat to come on the market in years. It lets you safely put your baby in a seat in the bath once they can sit up unassisted. With suction cup sides and clear markers that show you when it’s tight enough, the new My Bath Seat from Summer Infant makes bath time a little less stressful.

Faster Swaddling from Dr. Harvey Karp

Any parent with a mini Houdini knows that swaddling can be really hard. This 100-percent organic cotton swaddle keeps your baby’s arms in tight with internal Velcro. Then the swaddle zips around. It has mesh on the shoulders and around the feet to keep baby ventilated and cool, too.

Stroller Upgrade

Many first-time parents don’t consider stroller accessories. We got the stroller, what else do we need? However, when you are out with your kid A LOT, some accessories make life easier for everyone. A stroller caddy is great for parents’ stuff—and baby’s stuff too. This new stroller caddy from TWELVElittle takes it to the next level. It loops around your stroller handles, and it can unclip to become a portable bag, too.

Nominees

Lunch Just Got Cuter

We love the playful animal nursery decor and storage that 3 Sprouts is known for. The Canadian company has now launched food storage, too. Their Lunch Bento Box, Sandwich Bag and Snack Bag are practical and easy to use and feature fun animals like foxes, owls and lions. Whether headed to the park or to school for the day, this silicone, BPA-free bento box is a great solution for your lunch box needs. (Of course, it’s microwavable and dishwasher safe, too.) It will be available in June 2018.

Hello, Kitty

Hello Kitty x Ergobaby! One of our favorite carrier brands has teamed up with the classic Hello Kitty to launch two new prints. The Hello Kitty line is available on the Omni 360 Carrier (shown here in Blue), as well as on the Adapt and the Swaddler, plus the Doll Carrier for your kiddo to practice carrying an even smaller kiddo. There is a pink print as well.

Pumping and Nursing Bra in One

If you’re a new mom who plans to nurse, you may have already checked out the best nursing bras. If you’re pumping regularly, you may also need a pumping bra to help hold your breast pump in place. There is actually only one bra that unsnaps to be a nursing bra or a pumping bra: the Simple Wishes SuperMom Bra. (And later in 2018, they are launching a convertible version so you can unsnap the pumping insert.)

Chic Clutch for Mama

Becoming a mom doesn’t have to cramp your style, and this fashion-forward line of clutches proves it. They are waterproof so you can keep a few wipes in there without the bulky packaging when out for the day. In black, red or snakeskin (told you it was chic), this clutch can be worn well after baby is out of diapers.

Easy Babyproofing (Finally!)

Tipping furniture is a serious safety risk for children. IKEA had a major recall and now issues anti-tip kits with some of their dressers. But it’s still an unregulated issue, and a recent analysis by Consumer Reports shows that many popular dressers tip when an open top drawer is pulled on. But many parents avoid babyproofing because it’s hard and annoying.

Enter the No Hardware Anti-Tip Kit. You punch this little piece into your wall, and an internal hook keeps it in the drywall without any screws. The other end can be put on the top of your dresser or TV console with an adhesive or with an optional screw attachment. One kit has two straps which hold 200 lbs. The company is also releasing a TV anti-tip kit with an additional strap for large screens.

Wrap and Carrier in One

In a breathable material that’s kind of like yoga pants, the new Boppy ComfyFit Carrier has a buckled strap that goes around your waist, along with shoulder straps and extra wings to help it fit tightly like a wrap. It also has a little fanny pack where you can store your essentials if you want to keep your wallet and phone close by. It can be used from newborn (8 lbs) to 35 lbs.

You Brush Your Teeth Ch Ch Ch Ch

From the makers of the popular NoseFrida, the SmileFrida is a toddler toothbrush. Since toddlers can’t really be trusted to brush their teeth well, the SmileFrida brushes three sides at once. It has a wide, easy-to-hold handle, and a suction cup stand so it won’t get dirty on your bathroom counter.

The Greenest Stroller

This stroller is made from over 99-percent recycled materials, and it has incredible versatility. The basic model comes with a regular stroller seat, but you can buy a seat that’s reversible or a bassinet to use from birth. Also because it’s all plastic, it only weighs 15 lbs.

Whoa, Baby!

The makers behind the popular Dockatot have launched a new sleep solution for the parent looking for baby luxury. The Aristot will come in a variety of fabrics, including a leather style and a marbled fabric. The base will adapt into furniture, like a coffee table, after the baby outgrows the sleeper. It will be available in late 2018.
