We test and review a lot of products here at Babylist. And while there are tons of brand new strollers, car seats, baby carriers and more that hit the baby gear market every year, we’re pretty picky about what we think is worth a second look. These 25 made our best of the best list for 2021.

Nursery

We were already big fans of the Nanit baby monitor, one of our favorite Wifi smart monitors on the market. This upgraded bundle takes things up another notch. It includes Nanit’s newest (and most high-tech) baby monitor, the Nanit Pro, along with a wall mount, breathing bands in two sizes, a smart sheet, multi-stand, travel case and a whole year of Nanit Insights. It tracks everything from breathing to growth while giving you a crystal-clear view of your baby whenever you need one.

Any product that helps us feel less anxious about baby sleep is always something we’re here for. This new crib mattress from Halo is fully breathable from cover to core. The mattress itself is made from woven food-grade polymer that’s surrounded by pockets of air, and the mattress cover is constructed from a 3D mesh that’s also completely breathable. You won’t even need a crib sheet (but you can use one if you’d like), another feature we love.

Perfect for both travel and home, this bedside bassinet stands out thanks to its modern look and customizable options. There are five different height adjustment options so you can position the bassinet to match whatever your particular bed height is. The Iora also slides side to side so you can glide it toward you when you need to comfort or pick up your little one. Everything folds flat for easy travel and there’s a travel bag included.

Baby Gear

A swing can be a lifesaver during the first few months of your baby’s life, but most aren’t known for their small footprint or portability. This new swing from Munchkin changes all that. It’s sleek, light and compact and comes together in seconds out of the box. It also pops apart into two parts for flat, easy storage. You can control it via a remote and there’s Bluetooth capabilities to pipe in your own tunes. The gentle side-to-side motion will help calm even the fussiest newborn.

Solly already makes one of our favorite baby wraps, so we were excited when they dropped their new Loop Carrier earlier this year. It definitely doesn’t disappoint. This next-step carrier balances the ease of a sling with the support of a wrap and is designed for babies 15-45 pounds. There’s a sewn-in ring design for easy adjustments and 100% organic cotton fabric that’s just as soft and buttery as Solly’s original wrap. Check out the tutorial for step-by-step usage instructions.

The first thing you’ll notice about this new carrier from Ergobaby is the unbelievably soft, breathable material. Called SoftFlex Mesh, it’s sooo light and comfy and perfect if you’ll be wearing your baby in a warmer climate or just want to cut down on sweat. The carrier features a ton of padding and support and can be used from birth to four years old (no infant insert needed) in four different carry positions.

If you’ve found that Babybjorn carriers fit your body type better (which is generally just a matter of personal preference), the brand’s newest Harmony soft structured carrier boasts a similar ultra-soft and breathable material as Ergobaby’s Omni Breeze and can be used from the newborn days until about three years old. This carrier also has four carry positions and lots of adjustable support features to keep you and your little one cool and comfortable.

Say goodbye to struggling to set up your beach tent while your kids cry and sweat pours down your face. (Yay for family beach days!) Veer’s Family Basecamp is the easiest tent we’ve ever used—truly. Setup takes no time at all, it’s rugged and sturdy, and it’s roomy enough for the entire family and then some. It breaks down just as easily as it goes up and fits in a cylindrical carrying case that you can sling right over your shoulder when it’s time to pack up. It’s by far our favorite way to throw some shade at the beach or wherever you need it on your family adventures.

This basic bouncer has been around for a while and consistently ranks as one of our all-time favorite baby gear picks thanks to its practicality and affordability—but it recently got a design refresh that we think warrants a shout-out. We love the updated look and the fresh new print. And that it’s still only about $30!

We love a good minimalist solution to lugging around a giant diaper bag, and this belt bag has the added bonus of being a little friendlier on the environment as it’s made from seven single-use plastic bottles from the landfill. It can be worn either around your waist or slung over your body and has five exterior pockets and a roomy interior so it fits a surprising amount of stuff for such a compact .

Car Seats & Strollers

We’re so happy to see the trend of rotating car seats continuing to catch on in the US since the debut of the Cybex Sirona S last year. The Evenflo Gold rotates 360 degrees, making it easier to get your little one in and out of the car. Why is this important? Because it means you’re more likely to rear-face your baby until they max out of the seat’s height and weight limits, keeping them safer longer in the event of a crash.

The crossover stroller we’ve been waiting for, the Roam combines the best of two worlds: an everyday stroller and a running stroller all rolled into one compact, easy to maneuver package. (Its good looks don’t hurt, either.) It’s the perfect stroller if you’re looking for something that can seamlessly transition from running to walking without the bulk of a traditional jogging stroller. It also takes up 50% less space when folded than traditional joggers. So much to love!

And speaking of more compact strollers, the Hub+ is one of our 2021 stroller faves by far. It has many of the perks as its full-size counterparts like oversized wheels, souped-up suspension, a deep storage basket, a modular seat and plush fabrics but in a slimmer, narrower and more compact package. The fold takes seconds and the included strap lets you throw the whole stroller over your shoulder when you need to carry it along on the go.

Feeding

Silicone is one of our favorite materials for tableware for new eaters. It’s structured but soft, easy to clean and can withstand lots of toddler abuse. This essentials set caught our eye this year as it has everything you’ll need to start solids with your baby: a suction bowl and plate, a little cup, and a two-pack each of spoons and bibs. Everything was thoughtfully designed with new eaters in mind and the set comes in three fun colors.

Formula makers were something we thought were a little extra…before we had kids. Baby Brezza’s new automatic formula maker is a huge timesaver and so easy to use. It fills up to 20 eight-ounce bottles with the touch of a button and is easy to operate and customize to your baby’s feeding needs. It works with all bottle sizes and brands and virtually all types of formula. You can even choose to have the formula come out warm, another huge timesaving step.

This bottle warmer turns heating your little one’s breast milk or formula on its head—literally. Unlike traditional warmers, this one is way less bulky and doesn’t require you to fill it with water. Simply screw in your bottle, turn it upside down and let it get to work. We love that it hits the perfect temp every time and that it takes up basically zero counter space.

Elvie’s hands-free electric breast pump was a game changer for pumping parents. Their new manual pump is also really impressive. It’s also a hands-free wearable but this one operates on suction alone; simply put it on your breast, press the silicone pouch and let it do its thing. It’s perfect for expressing when your breasts feel full, wearing on one side while you feed on the other or catching milk during let-down.

There’s no reason not to bring some style to your next nursing session. This wedge-shaped nursing pillow from DockATot is as eye-catching as it is functional. The pillow curves around your body to support you during both breast or bottle feeding. There are four gorgeous prints to choose from, too.

We’ve tried a lot of nursing bras over the years and this one has already emerged as a favorite. It’s easy to get on and off, super soft and so comfy. The clip-down cups offer one-handed access and there are removable pads depending on what you’re comfortable with. Our favorite part is the wide, smooth back strap; it stays in place perfectly and doesn’t cause any bulging. Just note it does run on the smaller side so we recommend sizing up.

Just as high on our favorites list is the Everything Bra from one of our favorite brands, Bodily. This bra literally does it all. Designed in consultation with a lactation consultant, it works from pregnancy through all stages of nursing and can be worn morning and night. And it is truly SO soft and comfortable—it won’t dig in or pinch and the material stretches yet stays supportive as you move.

Health & Safety

Bathing a brand-new baby can be anxiety-inducing (and slippery). This three-in-one bath makes it a lot easier. It can be used on your countertop, in the sink or in your regular tub and features two different recline positions for custom support and a water control plug for customized water level and flow. It folds flat for storage and can be hung via the built-in hook on the back.

Another multi-use product (a feature we always love), this sleek, minimal humidifier does more than just add soothing moisture to your baby’s nursery. It’s also a diffuser and a nightlight, too, so it’s the perfect go-to when your little one is feeling stuffy or under the weather. We also really love the modern look.

Clothing & Accessories

Not to pat ourselves on the back but…pat, pat, pat. This Swaddle Box is so smart! Lots of babies love to be swaddled, but it’s tough to figure out which type they’ll prefer and you don’t want to stock up until you’re sure. This bundle features four of our most popular options: the Love to Dream Swaddle UP, Happiest Baby’s Sleepea, the Halo Cotton SleepSack and a classic muslin option from Aiden + Anais.

The ultra-soft, stretchy and breathable fabric is what first caught our eye on this new line of sleepers from Loulou Lollipop. Made from a sustainable mix of Tencel, organic cotton and spandex, they’re extra comfortable on baby’s new, sensitive skin. The sleepers come in lots of trendy colors and whimsical designs from newborn sizes through twelve months.

Just when we thought Freshly Picked baby moccs couldn’t get any cuter, enter this knotted bow style. These handmade leather shoes are soft, sweet and stylish. They’re easy to get on and off and are durable for both infants and toddlers alike.
